Sidekick was named from a love of the martial arts technique but also the friendships that are found when training on the mats. Many students join Excel Martial Arts alone, but quickly realize that it is a community. A place where friendships are earned and gained.
At first, Sidekick thought martial arts was all about being physical. But each class Sidekick was learning valuable life skills through EMA's Mental Health Curriculum. Daily lessons and themes talking about things like respect, building confidence, and self discipline were shared and taught. Excel became something bigger for Sidekick.
