Re-Wired Mental Health Curriculum

more than just a
Martial art

ReWired is Excel Martial Arts Mental Health Curriculum. EMA is proud to say we are a lifestyle, not just a sport or extracurricular activity. By combining both physical movement through martial arts as well as brain training, we challenge both mind and body to improve. We have a Kinesiologist and Clinical Counsellor that write a monthly educational newsletter for our members. ReWired focuses on a different topic each month pertinent to our students. Our hopes are that we “rewire” the brain to become a more efficient, happier, and healthier person. By focusing on such topics as courage, sleep, kindness, forgiveness, diet, stress management, and play, we educate our members and parents on these topics to develop our students to be the best they can be. Before most classes, especially with the younger children, they have a “mat chat” where instructors interactively engage with students on the monthly theme.

about
rewired

We want to provide more than martial arts skills. EMA is many things rolled into one – physical fitness, self-defence techniques, confidence and self-esteem building, life coaching, community, family, fighting skills, flexibility, and strength. We strive to focus on self-improvement within ourselves and all our members in EMA.

Feel free to read our archived newsletters. They are great for parents to teach their children something new each month. Every edition has new challenges, games, tips, and techniques that are useful in everyday life – for children, teens, and adults. In tandem with the ReWired theme of the month, we also post on social media additional information on that monthly theme.
